Diego has a love for people and a love for music that he’s fused into a lifestyle. Launching Cut-Line; a production and artist management agency in 2015, Diego had early success performing and hosting events in New York’s famed Panther Room. By 2018 Diego teamed up with Sergio Santos forming FUNKY PEOPLE, a monthly party at TBA Brooklyn, boasting an eclectic FUNKY track selection and vibe decorated with fresh pineapples, watermelons and bananas. Almost immediately, the duo teamed up with Jeremy Ismael and began performing as FUNKY PEOPLE, playing the esteemed Electric Pickle in Miami for MMW, Elephant Room Detroit, Phoenix Landing Boston, Fete Music Hall Rhode Island, as well as many top New York City venues. Harnessing a sound reflective of his travels and mentors, Diego drops deep cuts and funky basslines captivating the crowd each time he mans the decks.
In the last year Diego has honed in on his personal sound and production releasing on labels such as Decay, Street King, Staybad, As.If, Good Luck Penny, Fine Mode and has several bangers awaiting release. He and childhood bosom buddy Majak are hard at work engineering a sound that is energetic, funky, quirky at times, and utterly groovy! They have been on this journey since 8 years old and have been looking for aliens ever since.
Diego is what you call an introverted extrovert or learned extrovert - an analytical thinker with goofy and off the cuff undertones and subtle strokes of genius. He’s an oddball for sure, fun loving, positive, overly optimistic and college educated. Never formally studying music Diego’s all about the vibe, his ear is sharp like a hawk and he is rumored to have the torso of a horse; although one rarely sees him from the other side of the booth so it is tough to confirm. Being Gemini with a half white beard you might think of Diego as Tyler Durden or an amerikaner cookie. He doesn’t mind the reference and will laugh at the humor. Honorary member of the Goon Squad & National Association for the gifted and talented, Diego walks across all boundaries in life like a monk on hot coal. Seamless with his transitions as he is behind the decks, and playing across a wide array of genres to suit his ever-changing mood and surroundings. Diego’s ability to adapt in the most adverse of circumstances has led him to a life of silence. He was last seen with George Clooney sipping tequila and mastering the underappreciated art form of telepathy. Recently a recluse, Diego is known to be harnessing an ethereal, hypnotic, absolute smashing groove of a sound and perfecting tunes with life partner and best friend Maják. If you are lucky, on the quietest of nights, you can hear his music being played from the distant depths of Moria.
